Big news this week came out of left field. Alshon Jeffery has been suspended four games for violation of the leagues banned substance policy.

Christine Michael was also released by the Seahawks, meaning that Thomas Rawls must be healthy enough to return in Week 11.

Let’s take a look at how I did in Week 10.

Darren Sproles saw just two carries but was heavily involved in the passing game, catching eight passes for 57 yards. He saw the highest snap percentage of all the RB, but took a backseat to Ryan Mathews.

Travis Kelce caught three passes for 31 yards. It would have been a much bigger day if Alex Smith had hit him on two endzone attempts.

Cameron Meredith caught just one pass, but he made it count, making a spectacular catch on a Hail Mary to end the first half. Two targets is disappointing, but owners who started Meredith won’t be mad at 51 yards and a TD.

Eli Manning had one of his better games of the season, reaching 20 Fantasy points for the third time this season. Sterling Shepard was on the receiving end of a Manning TD, as part of a 42 yard day.

Michael Thomas caught four passes for 40 yards, but lost two fumbles and ended the day with zero Fantasy points.

Julius Thomas has another 20 yard day, but saved his day with a touchdown.

Christine Michael was phased out of the Seattle offense, seeing just five carries for 22 yards. C.J. Prosise is the new lead back for the Seahawks. Andy Dalton struggled in prime time once again, passing for just 204 yards and one touchdown.

The performance was Dalton’s second worst of the season.

Jarvis Landry had another disappointing day, catching six passes for 53 yards. Owners in full PPR leagues salvaged some value, but Landry left his standard owners with a lot to be desired.

Looks like four of my five sits were better left on the bench. A banner day for yours truly.

Week 11 Start ’em Sit ’em

Start ’em

Tyrod Taylor, QB, Buffalo Bills

Taylor played one of the best games of his career in Week 9, throwing for 289 yards and a touchdown while rushing an additional 43 yards and another touchdown. Taylor has played very well over the last few weeks, throwing just one interception in his last six games. Although he’s yet to throw over 300 yards this season, he has maintained his floor with his legs, rushing for a TD in three straight games. Taylor should be able to continue his streak of solid games against a struggling Bengals defense.

Cincinnati has given up the fifth most Fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. They’ve managed this by giving up 19 passing touchdowns, which ranks 29th in the league. In general, Cincy has held quarterbacks in check on the ground, giving up just 145 total yards this season. However, they haven’t played a who’s-who of rushing quarterbacks. Taylor has had some excellent rushing performances against better defenses, so he shouldn’t have a problem against the Bengals.

If Taylor is on your waiver wire, he needs to be added and inserted into your lineup. He’ll put up top 10 numbers for a second straight game.

Isaiah Crowell, RB, Cleveland Browns

After a hot start to the season, Crowell has been very inconsistent as of late. He has been seeing fewer and fewer carries as the Browns repeatedly fall behind and are forced to abandon the run. The Browns have kept Crowell involved when the game-script is against him, as he’s piled up 93 receiving yards on seven receptions over the last two weeks.

The Steelers offense is likely to pull ahead of the Browns early. If the game somehow remains close, Crowell will be up against a relatively week defense. Pittsburgh’s average defensive stats took a huge hit last week against Ezekiel Elliot, but Zeke was just one of many running backs to abuse the Steelers. The Steelers give up 4.3 YPC and are in the bottom 10 in rushing TD allowed. If the Browns do fall behind, Crowell will have the opportunity to rack up yardage off check-downs.

Owners might see this as a Duke Johnson script, but the target numbers in the past two weeks show that Hue Jackson prefers to use Crowell in all situations. It’s tough to bet on Browns players these days, but Crowell could be a sneaky FLEX RB for owners missing their starter.

Julian Edelman, WR, New England Patriots

Edelman has been quite disappointing this season. He has just one touchdown in nine games and has surpassed 50 yards receiving just four times. Surprisingly, Tom Brady’s return hasn’t done much to help Edelman, as his value has remained below that of previous seasons. However his value has been trending up over the last two weeks, as he had 99 receiving yards in Week 10 and caught his first touchdown in Week 9.

With uncertainty surrounding Rob Gronkowski’s chest injury, Edelman stands to see his targets increase if Gronk was to be limited in any way. Against the terrible 49ers defense, Edelman should be able to find room against the league’s third worst Fantasy defense. Over the last four weeks, the Niners have given up 10 or more Fantasy points to six different wide receivers. They even allowed the ever-struggling Michael Floyd to catch five passes for 100 yards.

With the addition of Martellus Bennett and the impending return of Dion Lewis, there will be even fewer touches to go around. For this week, expect Edelman to put on a vintage performance against one of the league’s worst defenses.

Eli Rogers, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers

Rogers started off the season strong, catching six passes for 59 yards and a touchdown in Week 1. He then went into a deep sleep over the next six games due to injury and the emergence of Sammie Coates. Over the last two weeks, Rogers has come back to life as the number two receiver behind Antonio Brown. Rogers should continue to get WR2 volume especially with news that Sammie Coates is suffering from two broken fingers.

Against the Browns embarrassing defense, Rogers and the Steelers offense should have no trouble scoring plenty of points. Cleveland gives up 286 yards receiving yards per game and has given up a league high 25 touchdowns through the air. With Coates, Markus Wheaton and Darrius Heyward-Bey out on Sunday, Rogers should see plenty of action against Cleveland.

Rogers is will be a good option for those suffering from injuries and bye weeks. Rogers should put up solid yardage with the chance for a TD. Rogers is a good FLEX option in Week 11.

C.J. Prosise, RB, Seattle Seahawks

With news that Christine Michael has been waived by the Seahawks, Prosise will have the opportunity to be the lead back for at least one week. While Thomas Rawls gets back up to speed, Prosise should receive most of the carries and passes out of the backfield. With a full workload in Week 10, Prosise was able to grind out 66 rushing yards to go along with 87 receiving yards.

Prosise is a solid pass catching back, and should be able to turn those skills into production against the Eagles. Although the Eagles are typically strong against running backs, they’ve been weaker against change-of-pace backs, giving up 2.25 more points than the average Fantasy defense. In the last three games, Prosise has had two separate games in which he has over 80 yards receiving.

With Michael out of the picture, Prosise should get heavy volume while Rawls is eased back to a full workload. Prosise is looking like a good FLEX option in an improving Seahawks offense.

Sit ’em

Todd Gurley, RB, Los Angeles Rams

It may come as little shock to most Fantasy owners, but Todd Gurley has been held back by the rest of the Rams offense. Gurley has been a huge disappointment for owners who drafted him early in the first round, averaging just 3.1 YPC and 57 yards per game. Workload is not the issue, as he’s averaging nearly 19 carries per game, higher than his 2015 total. Things have been tough so far, but could get even tougher in Week 11.

Jared Goff has been trending all over the sports world, as he’s set to make his first career start on Sunday. Jeff Fisher still seems hesitant to play the first overall pick, but he can’t be much worse than Case Keenum. A rookie QB under center could lead to even more hiccups in the Rams’ offense. However, Gurley should see a slight uptick in carries as the Rams will likely shield Goff from too much pressure.

Gurley will be going against a surprisingly effective Miami defense, who have allowed the 10th fewest Fantasy points to running backs this season. They’ve been especially effective against opposing primary running backs, allowing five fewer points to RB1 than the average Fantasy defense. A tough matchup with a rookie QB at the helm is not a recipe for success. Gurley will put up another disappointing, inefficient day on Sunday. If you need to play him, pray for a TD.

Terrance West, RB, Baltimore Ravens

West was looking like a breakout RB1 early in the season after he ran over the Raiders, Redskins and Giants. Unfortunately, West ran into a wall after the Ravens’ bye week, gaining just 2.18 YPC over his last three games. The road ahead becomes even tougher in Week 11, as Baltimore will be in Dallas to take on the Cowboys.

Dallas has had one of the best run defenses this season, allowing just three different RB to reach double digit Fantasy points. They allow 4.1 YPC but are giving up just 82 yards per game, good for third in the league. West is looking at the bulk of the carries once again, but will lose significant passing-down work to Kenneth Dixon. Last week, Dixon received just six carries, but saw seven passing targets. This trend should continue, as the Cowboys have a habit of giving up big games to receiving backs.

Unless West finds the endzone, he’s looking at a fourth straight poor game. Owners should look for better options to use this week.

Carson Palmer, QB, Arizona Cardinals

Palmer has been throwing like a mad man lately. He has attempted 49, 46, and 49 passes in his last three games which have led to three consecutive 300 yard games. With David Johnson in the backfield, it’s surprising that Bruce Arians is calling so many pass plays for his fragile QB. Even with all these passes, Palmer has surpassed 17 Fantasy points in just one of these matchups. Coming off a bye week, Palmer will have a tough time against the Vikings secondary.

Minnesota has been tough on quarterbacks all season, giving up the sixth fewest points to the position thus far. Through nine games, Aaron Rodgers’ 18 points was the best Fantasy performance against the Vikings. Even that performance wasn’t all that impressive, as Rodgers threw for just 213 yards. The Vikings secondary is still one of the best in the league, but their run defense has been showing cracks over the last three weeks. Jordan Howard ran wild in Week 8, opening the gates for Theo Riddick and Rob Kelley as the only other RB to break 70 yards against the Vikes.

With a weapon like Johnson coming out of the backfield, the Cardinals will attack the weak spot in the Minnesota defense. Expect another disappointing day for Palmer, resulting in low-end QB1 numbers.

Ty Montgomery, WR/RB, Green Bay Packers

It was fun while it lasted. As a former owner of Montgomery, I can attest to how disappointing the Monty ride has been. After looking like a serious dual threat for the Packers in the absence of Eddie Lacy, illness and Mike McCarthy’s confusing usage has relegated Montgomery back to a complimentary role.

After being proclaimed a three down back by McCarthy, Montgomery saw just five total touches in Week 10. He may be suffering the lingering effects of the illness related to his sickle cell trait but it doesn’t look like he’ll be getting heavy touches anytime soon. Reports from Packers practice have even more distressing news.

Due to his illness, he may be put on a snap count for the third straight week, making him an unplayable option in most Fantasy leagues. Already stuck with a questionable tag, he’ll play behind James Starks (CMike?) for the foreseeable future. His run is over and he should no longer be in any starting lineups.

Stefon Diggs, WR, Minnesota Vikings

After a having a rough time in Weeks 4-to-8, Diggs has been a monster is his last three games. He’s been peppered with targets in those games seeing 13, 14, and 15 targets. He has turned those targets into excellent production, not gaining less than 76 yards in any of those games. The competition gets much tougher this week against Patrick Peterson and the Cardinals.

The Cardinals know how dangerous Diggs has been, and they’ve said that Patrick Peterson will be the one to cover Diggs on Sunday.

The Cardinals have surrendered under 200 yards per game through the air and will be much tougher to crack than the Bears, Lions, and Redskins proved to be. Diggs has earned a lot of leeway with his recent performance, but owners in shallower leagues should consider benching him for players with an easier opponent.
